Responsibility for many kilometres of cycling fun

Our products are designed for safe use on bicycles and built to last. For many people, the bicycle is a practical means of transport in everyday life and is intended to get them safely from A to B. During product development, we take into account a range of technical and product-specific requirements. When making decisions, we consider not only economic and functional aspects but also long-term developments and requirements.

Certified ÖKOPROFIT® company

Certified ÖKOPROFIT® company

ÖKOPROFIT® is our environmental management system. Hebie in Bielefeld has been participating in the ÖKOPROFIT® programme since 2010 and is certified accordingly. The system supports the structured recording, planning and implementation of operational environmental measures and provides a framework for reviewing and further developing operational processes. This also includes the recording of measures relating to the management of resources.

FIX 40 FIX 40

FIX 40

In 2024, our team took part in a workshop series as part of the CIRCO project. Using the Hebie FIX 40 rear stand as a case study, we applied circular strategies to a traditionally linear product. With the help of the CIRCO method, we analysed the full value chain of a bicycle – with a focus on our rear stand as one component of the overall system! We examined the design implications for both product and service, as well as legal aspects, organisational impacts, and marketing and communication opportunities.

BASKIT EDGE

BASKIT EDGE

The BASKIT EDGE is a robust plastic basket with a long service life. The basket is made from 50%* recycled plastic. The recycled material is sourced from post-industrial waste (PIR). The basket is manufactured at our site in Bielefeld. It is suitable for a wide range of transport tasks on a bicycle and comes with a 10-year guarantee.

* The 50% refers to the portion of the overall material that can be replaced with recycled content.

Our SDGs as a sustainability compass

Our selected SDGs as the basis for our internal sustainability work

As part of an internal stakeholder dialogue and with the support of B.A.U.M. Consult, Hebie in Bielefeld carried out the CheckN sustainability assessment based on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This process identified areas for action relevant to our company. These serve as the basis for planning and prioritising our sustainability activities within the HEBIE GROUP. Our targets and measures are reviewed on a regular basis. You can find further information in our Sustainability Report 2024.

SNAPIT 2.0 CONNECT

With the SNAPIT 2.0 ADAPTER and SNAPIT 2.0 CONNECT, we also prioritise quality and durability, as well as short supply chains and efficient processes. The plastic components are manufactured in-house. Through in-house production (with the exception of springs, clamps and screws), we consolidate key production steps at a single site and make use of existing technologies and our manufacturing expertise. As part of our ‘Made in Bielefeld’ strategy, which takes sustainability into account, the products are thus manufactured at our Bielefeld site.

ISO 9001 quality management

ISO 9001 quality management

Our quality management system lays the foundation for clear processes, up-to-date practices and transparency. It also helps us identify areas with potential room for improvement. Aligned with the ISO standard, it promotes a process-oriented approach across the HEBIE GROUP by focusing on specific tasks or groups of tasks. We apply and continuously refine the system at Hebie in Bielefeld and tubus in Münster as part of our commitment to ongoing improvement. This ensures traceable workflows, credibility with our customers and the ability to meet evolving customer expectations.

MOBILITY ON TWO WHEELS AT THE HEBIE GROUP

We have been promoting cycling culture for many years. Our infrastructure offers the best conditions for this: secure bicycle parking facilities close to the workplace, convenient charging facilities for e-bikes, repair stations, modern shower and changing areas, and personal lockers. Public transport connections and sharing services are also nearby. We have received multiple awards as a bicycle-friendly employer – a claim we would like to further develop. ‘Those of us who work with bicycle parts on a daily basis automatically think about sustainable mobility’: this approach is to be consolidated through information, communication, service offerings and campaigns for road users.

Code of Conduct for Suppliers

Code of Conduct for Suppliers

Our Code of Conduct (CoC) provides our suppliers with a set of guidelines that clearly outline our expectations. The Code of Conduct enables them to engage in dialogue with us at any time. As an external obligation, it forms the interface between our sustainability values and goals and the desired behaviour of our suppliers.

Three-pillar model of sustainability

Our sustainable development is based on the three pillars of environment, economy and social responsibility. When making decisions, we strive to achieve the best possible compromise between these three dimensions of sustainability.

environment

Environment & Production

Natural resources are a key foundation for our economic success. That is why we take their management into account when making decisions relating to production.

Significance of our sustainability goals

We have set targets for the further development of our company and review them regularly. In doing so, we take economic, environmental and social factors into account and adjust our priorities as necessary in response to changing circumstances.

Icon CSR – Ecology pillar Goals in the field of ECOLOGY

‘We record the emissions from our site and supply chain on an annual basis. For internal management purposes, we use the relevant data and implement a product carbon footprint (PCF) model. Information on selected aspects of our supply chain is essential for this.’

Icon CSR – Ecology pillar Goals in the field of ECONOMICS

‘When developing products, circularity aspects are taken into account throughout the product life cycle. This involves incorporating factors such as material selection, design features and options for maintenance, repair and material recovery into the planning process and into measures to preserve value.’

Icon CSR – Social pillar Goals in the SOCIAL sector

‘The topics covered include working conditions, collaboration and wellbeing in the workplace. We want to continue providing our key stakeholders with regular, transparent and honest information about our social, environmental and economic developments in the form of a sustainability report.’

You can find our strategic and operational goals with ongoing measures and developments in our Sustainability Report 2024.
